Tools Down For Fly The Flag Day

The team at DATS put tools down for a few hours and spent time at a West Connex site at St Peters to raise awareness of suicide prevention in the industry.

MIC’s Fly the Flag Day coincided with RUOK Day. DATS together with our brand Ambassador, Keith Schleiger, was on hand all day supporting the initiative. Dressed for the occasion was a DATS wrapped truck and bin – Let’s Talk.

First stop was a media conference on site at Pyrmont with Minister for Mental Health, Tanya Davies. From there, the DATS | Let’s Talk truck together with The Blockinator, visited a number of DATS clients on their work sites in and around the city.

And at midday, it was all hands on deck when the DATS team, MIC officials and The Blockinator cooked a BBQ lunch for over 300 people on site at St Peters. MIC addressed the site workers on the purpose of Fly the Flag Day, and reinforced the importance of mates reaching out to mates – looking out for each other – with the aim of reducing suicide within the industry.

There was over 250 similar Fly The Flag events held on worksites in NSW.
